We use industry best practices to calculate impact. Our methodology is aligned with the Global Impact Investing Network’s (GIIN) recommendations, and it follows the norms of the Impact Management Project. We analyze the impact of your investments with carbon metrics, thematic metrics, and the UN Sustainable Development Goals. On top of this, we also use multiple 3rd party datasets for its analysis and presents impact on full or thematic portfolio level.
1. Where can I see my Impact?
To view your impact, all you need to do is select the “Impact” tab. This will take you to your personalized impact page, where you can view your investment themes as well as your industry exclusions. You can also view your impact metrics, which are personalized to the values you chose upon signing up. Finally, your impact page also allows you to view your portfolio's sustainability scores in relation to Carbon Metrics and Sustainable Development Goals.
2. What are the UN SDGs?
The UN Sustainable Development Goals sit at the core of the 2030 Agenda– they aim to provide a shared blueprint to secure sustainable, peaceful, and equitable life on earth for everyone. The 17 goals recognize the importance of social, environmental, and economic development occurring in harmony within and between nations. At FLIT we conduct SDG revenue mapping to understand the business model, products, and impact of each company within your portfolio. Through our analysis, you can track how much your investments contribute to the UNSDGs. Details and descriptions of the SDGs can be found inside the app.
3. What are carbon metrics?
FLIT measures the carbon exposure of each individual portfolio using two well-defined metrics by the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) standards: Weighted Average Carbon Intensity, and Exposure to Carbon-Related Assets. Calculation of each metrics is based on the TCFD guidance. FLIT presents carbon metrics to all users based on a total portfolio level, considering listed equity investments.
4. What are thematic metrics?
Thematic metrics are specific to the investment theme and measure impact in that area. Multiple thematic impact metrics are tracked per each investment theme, and we present 3 key metrics to users per theme. These metrics are based on industry best practices, primarily sources from GIIN’s IRIS impact measurement and management platform. Details on the calculation and descriptions of each metric can be found inside the app.
